With the RST Mini from Wieland, lighting concepts can be implemented quickly and safely under critical installation conditions

Sophisticated lighting systems with a puristic minimalist design provide extremely limited space for the required electrical installation. In addition, such lighting concepts are increasingly being used not only in buildings, but also for outdoor installations. They are exposed to environmental influences such as rain or dirt and must therefore meet special requirements for electrification. The RST Mini connections ensure the greatest possible flexibility in the smallest space – without having to compromise on safety.

The plug-in principle

Traditional cabling is characterized by time-consuming planning and installation processes, accompanied by annoying side effects such as unstructured cable routing and a lack of clarity in terms of material planning. With the completely pluggable, industrially prefabricated RST systems from Wieland Electric, these challenges in power supply, distribution and device connection can be mastered. The main advantage of RST Mini connectors over conventional installation: Reduced error frequency and a reduced workload with approx. 70 percent time savings. Thanks to the Plug&Play principle, nothing stands in the way of rapid expansion and adaptation of the existing system to changed usage concepts without significant effort.

New horizons for light & design

Since lighting technologies are becoming increasingly important in planning and design processes, innovative lighting concepts are required to increase the attractiveness of indoor and outdoor areas. In order to meet the requirements of future-oriented and creative lighting management, developers and designers of luminaires have to face the challenge of merging form and functionality into a high-quality

unit. This is exactly where the RST Mini system comes into play. The special advantage: The new types of connectors have optimized contacts and greater strain relief. This means that flexible conductors from 0.25 to 2.5 mm2 (originally only up to 1.5 mm2) can now be accommodated. This leads to two concrete benefits. The first is that the RST Mini can now be used for extensive electrical installations. The second is that applications that require a cross-section of 2.5 mm2 can now also be realized using RST Mini.

Safe and fast electrical installation in the smallest space

Installers are more than ever dependent on being able to implement highly sophisticated lighting systems quickly and flexibly. The RST Mini concept (250 V/400 V, 16 A) provides you with a comprehensive network of factory pre-assembled and carefully tested components of electrical connection technology, which provides a universal pluggable and safe solution from the distribution unit to every point of use. The compact RST Mini is the ideal solution for applications in the field of luminaire installation that require a higher IP protection class, as it is equipped with protection class IP66/68(3m; 2h)/69. The RST Mini System is certified according to IEC 61535, i.e. in detail: Protection against electric shock, secure closure of unused ports, protection against dangerous mix-ups by color coding (6 colours/20 codes), and minimum contact resistance. All this ensures professional installation in accordance with the VDE 0100 installation regulations. Furthermore, the system has cULus certification, which allows it to be used in North America.

The RST Mini opens up new optimization potentials in the area of lighting which is exposed to extreme environmental influences and has sensitive interfaces between indoors and outdoors. Areas of application are e.g. smart façade lighting, effective ceiling lighting in the transition between outdoors and indoors, event lighting, lighting concepts in gardening and landscaping, lighting for greenhouses and industrial halls, maritime applications such as shipbuilding, where not only humidity but also salt content of the air place high demands on the quality of the material and system safety
